[Masilgil Trail 4 Story]

This course passes through the Haeneomi Park in Gyeokpohang Port to a beacon, which offers a great view of the seas in Gyeokpohang Port, before moving onto the filming location for the K-Drama Immortal Admiral Yi Sun-sin, seaside pension complexes, Sangnok Beach, and eventually to Solseom Island, a favorite of many photographers for sunsets. This course is particularly recommended as the last stop for the day.

[Port]Gyeokpohang Port

Gyeokpohang Port was originally a naval base during the Joseon period, and served as the central point in the transportation network connecting the nearby Wido, Wangdeungdo, Hongdo, and other islands of the West Sea. It is a good place to stock up on fresh seasonal seafood.

[Tourism]Wolgo-ri Beacon

I went up to the beacon on a carriage. The top of the beacon was surrounded by a low fence. I stepped through the door and found five beacons arrayed in a line in front of the pavilion. I stood on the pavilion and found the Wido Island and the seas of Chilsan to the distance. Fishing boats seemed like dots withdrawing toward an endless horizon, seemingly stretching to the very skies. [Filming Location]Filming Location for Jeolla Jwasuyeong (Left Naval Headquarters)

This filming set served the 2005 drama Immortal Admiral Yi Sun-sin. Located near Gunghang Port in Gyeokpo-ri, the filming set is now open to the public, allowing the visitors to enjoy the beautiful scenery and the expansive view of the sea.

[Port]Gunghang Port

During the reign of King Myeongjong of Joseon, about 300 years ago from today, a scholar is said to have settled in the area after being captivated by the beautiful scenery of the region. The village is enveloped by a mountain ridge resembling a half-moon. About 100 m into the sea lies the Gyeondo Island, also known as the Dog Island, while the coast to the west of the village is known as Dodanggeum.

[Beach]Sangnok Beach

Sangnok Beach is renowned for the beautiful combination of the pine grove standing behind the sand beach and the mysterious rock formations that dot the area. Its clean sands and shallow depth make it ideal for family visitors, and a camping site has been built in the pine grove.

[Island]Solseom Island

Solseom Island was formed by the sedimentation of pebble-sized volcanic bombs, tuff, and the escape of gases contained within the tuff, making it an ideal location to observe the development of these formations. It is also a good place to observe the agglutinate structures of tuff.
