Prosperous people, Praiseworthy Buan

In the past, this place was the base for the naval forces. A chief for the navy forces and government officials were assigned here. During the Joseon Dynasty there was Gyeokpojin, which was under the rule of Woosuyoung.
On May 1, 1986, Gyeokpo Port was upgraded as a first class port. It is the center of sea travel and is linked to small and large islands in the West Coast, such as Wido and Gogunsangundo. Gyeokpo is also a famous touring site and Chaeseokgang, Suseongdang, Jeokbyeokgang, and the Gyeokpo Beach is located nearby.
