Buan is also called as "生居扶安" (Sang hwal Buan; the meaning can be interpreted as "helping life to be comfortable.)

In the future, Buan plans to set high goals and visions for the 21st century and will strive to play an important role in the west coast era. The construction of the Saemangeum Sea Wall, which is 33 km long and is the longest sea wall in the world, will be the driving force for future development.
